Privacy Policy
The South Shore Brew Club ("we," "us") runs this website and member forum for our homebrewing club. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. We keep it simple because we collect very little.
Information we collect
- Account information — the email address and display name you provide when you register, or that Google/Facebook shares with us if you choose to sign in with them (your email and name only).
- Content you post — the topics, replies, and any photos or files you upload to the forum.
- Basic technical data — standard web server and CDN logs (e.g., IP address and browser type) used to operate and secure the site.
We do not collect payment information, and there is no advertising or third-party tracking on this site.
How we use it
- To create and secure your member account and let you log in.
- To show your posts and attribute them to your display name.
- To operate, maintain, and protect the forum from abuse.
Signing in with Google or Facebook
If you choose "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Facebook," that provider verifies your identity and shares your name and email address with us so we can create or match your member account. We do not receive your password, your contacts, your posts on those services, or any other data. You can always register with an email and password instead.
How your information is stored and shared
The site runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Account sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito, and your data is stored in AWS services on our behalf. We use these providers strictly to operate the site.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share information if required by law or to protect the club and its members.
Cookies and local storage
When you log in, we store a sign-in token in your browser's session storage so you stay logged in during your visit. It is cleared when you log out or close the tab. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete your own posts while logged in.
- You can request that we delete your account and associated content — contact us through the member forum and an admin will help.
Children
This is a homebrewing club site intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here with a revised date.
